The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, has expressed its sympathy over the last Saturday’s road accident involving members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The road accident occurred between Obajana/Kabba Junction route when the journalists were returning from Ekirin-Adde to Lokoja after an official assignment.
Kogi Police Command in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, ASP Afusat Aliu Oyiza described the incident as saddened and unfortunate.
The Statement reads “On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, and all officers and men of the Command, we extend our heartfelt prayers and solidarity to the injured journalists, their families, and the entire media community in the State.
“We recognize and appreciate the sacrifices journalists make in the line of duty in keeping the public informed. The Command joins the Nigeria Union of Journalists [NUJ], Kogi State Council, and the good people of Kogi State in praying for the speedy and full recovery of all those affected.
“We further assure the media fraternity of the Command’s continued commitment to the safety and protection of all journalists as they carry out their constitutionally guaranteed duties”
