Hon Uko Nkole has paid N1 million as counterpart fund for Okon-Aku Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area for the construction of a rural road in the community.
The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constutuency in the House of Representatives presented the cheque to the community during an interaction with their leaders.
The project which includes construction of a bridge is to be executed by the Abia State Community Social Development Programme (Abia-CSDP), as World-Bank assisted.
When completed, the road will reconnect the community with her neighbours and also open up channels for the transportation of their farm products to markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Nkole said he would continue to work assiduously to ensure the attraction of more developments and dividends of democracy to the constituency.
The lawmaker, who solicited the support and cooperation of the community for the contractors, commended the (Abia-CSDP), for embarking on the project.
Speaking on behalf of the community after receiving the cheque, the Vice President-General, Okon-Aku Development Union, Sir Boniface Ereji, thanked Nkole for the assistance.
He said through the intevention, the federal lawmaker had aptly expressed his love for the community by ” standing by us in this critical time and coming to our rescue.”
In another development, Nkole has organised a two-day entrepreneurship development training for select members of the constituents as part of his constituency project.
The first of the training for participants from the eight clans in the constituency was facilitated by FAC Integrated Services at the Dekoko Hotel, along Asaga Road, Ebem Ohafia in the area.
Speaking through his Liaison Officer, Mr. Kalu Ofem, Nkole said the trainning would enhance their capacity and willingness to develop, organise and manage their businesses.
Similarly, the Director, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, Abia State, Mr. Allwell Onyezonwu urged the participants to put the knowledge to practice.
