The Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Plateau State chapter has deployed over 2,000 personnel across the borders and major streets towards beefing ahead of Thursday nationwide protest against the inflation rate in Nigeria.
The State Commandant of the VGN,Mr Joseph Zimmah made this known during the final training of the officers of the command at the headquarters on Wednesday in Jos .
He admonished them to be law abiding citizen while discharging their social responsibility to the society by ensuring that they safeguard lives and properties of Nigerian.
Zimmah warned the officers against involving in looting of people’ s properties whenever miscreants trying to hijack the exercise .
He pointed out that “the last minutes training you are undergoing is to equipped you with the necessary skill and knowledge on how to handle the protesters during the protest.
Joseph advised the VGN officers to “always stay clear of demonstrators using weapon during the upheaval because that is their civil responsibility to protest in democracy but any attempt to torment trouble would be met with stiff resistance from our men on the field.”
He explained further that “our men are on ground to take proactive measure against vandals who might want to take advantage of the peaceful protest to inflict pains innocence people in the name of nationwide protest.
Joseph Zimmah called for synergy with other security agencies to provide adequate Security network to the protection of lives and properties of Nigerian.
According to him, “we must all work together to achieve meaningful success story as a voluntary group no stone will be left unturn in handling problem of insecurity bedeviling Plateau State and it’s environs .
Speaking to VGN in the state, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang harped on providing the desire leadership that will ensure Plateau State is safe for all investors coming in .
Represented by the Commissioner for Lands Survey and Town Planning Barr Nyam Peter Gai, the governor stressed that the state is performing credibly well in the area of good governance but the protesters have no reason to embark on the exercise in Plateau State.
He appealed to the youths not to allow themselves be use by the opposition party to create acrimony between government and them in the area of bad governance in Nigeria .
Mutfwang commended Plateau youths for beign what he described as the most industrious, committed leaders that cannot destroy their tomorrow with violence.
