Secondary School Principals in Kogi state have expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of this year’s NECO examination across the state.
The principals also praised the state government for living up to its responsibility in the provision of logistic support which has contributed to the hitch-free conduct of the NECO examination.
The principals made the commendation while receiving monitoring team for the examination led by the Director, Exams and Certification, Mr Sunday Femi of the Kogi State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
The Principal Muslim Community Secondary School, Lokoja, Danladi Yakubu who is also the Second Vice President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools(ANCOPSS), praised the ministry and the state government for their efforts in curbing exam malpractice in Kogi.
Yakubu equally lauded the presence of the security personnel at all the exam centres which he said was facilitated by the state government.
He noted that ANCOPSS had been collaborating with the ministry, saying “we have warned our principals not to tolerate exam malpractice in their respective schools.
“Our children are our future, and they have to be groomed well from the secondary school.
“For the conduct of the exam, I think NECO is doing well this year, the materials and supervisors arrived on time, and adequate security were provided.
“Unlike in the past, where you see outsiders and hoodlums infiltrating the exam hall to cause problems in connivance with students.
“We thank God that the exam is hitch-free and the conduct is very good and peaceful to my own assessment.
“The ANCOPSS will continue to collaborate with the ministry to stamp out the issue of exam malpractice at least to zero level in the state,’’ Yakubu said.
Mr James Achor, the principal of Freedom Faith Secondary School, said the conduct of the students had been very impressive, while commending the state government and NECO for providing adequate security.
Femi expressed satisfaction that the effort of the ministry and the state government to curb examination malpractice was yielding positive results.
“Most of our staff in the ministry are also out there monitoring the ongoing NECO exam across the 21 local government areas of the state.
“We are glad on what we saw in those schools we have visited, and we are quite happy that security personnel were deployed to all centres, which made the environment to be so peaceful and calm.
“People are not hanging anywhere near the exam hall or premises as it used to be, so, we are happy,’’ Femi said.
Abraham Benjamin, an Exam Superior in charge of Muslim Community Secondary School, said that the exam has been a huge success.
According to Benjamin, there were lots of improvements compared to 2018 exam especially with the presence of security personnel.
