In an effort to boost morale and lift standard of performance, the Nigerian Police has promoted 28,627 junior police officers to the next rank.
Those affected are in the rank of Constable, 332 of who were promoted to the post of Corporal, while 20,667 Corporals are now Sergeants and the remaining 7,628 were Sergeants who were promoted to the rank of Inspectors.
CSP Jimoh Moshood, the force spokesman in a statement said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has approved the promotion.
He said the promotion was based on merit, seniority, commitment and dedication to duty.
While congratulating them, the IG Idris urged the new Inspectors, Sergeants and Corporals to see their elevation as an incentive to be more dedicated to duty.
