The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, CP Austin Agbonlahor has directed his men to immediately commence investigation into the killing of five persons by unknown gunmen in Rawuru Village in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government on boxing day at about 9p:m.
The victims were attacked and killed on their way from a birthday party in Pugu Village in the LGA.
DSP, Mathias Tyovex, spokesman of the police command said this in a press statement. He said as a result of the attack, five people were killed and two were injured.
According to him, the five persons who lost their lives have since been buried while the two injured are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital Barkin Ladi.
The police PRO reassured members of the public that, “we have put in place comprehensive security strategies to prevent crime before, during and after this yuletide season,”
He said a total 2,046 personnel have being carefully selected, trained and deployed to protect lives and property of members of the public, in synergy with other security agencies in the State
The Command also restated its earlier ban on the use of fireworks, bangers, knockouts etc. .
It warned the people to board vehicles only in the designated parks in the state and not on the high way.
