In a bid to forestall any form of violence in the crisis-prone areas of Plateau state during the rescheduled election days, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of zone D, Godwin C. Nwobodo deployed 8,000 personnel across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Nwobodo made this disclosure at the Plateau state Police command at the weekend as part of preparatory for the successful conduct of general election in Plateau state.
He assured the personnel of government readiness to pay all their allowances ,adding among the personnel deployed, the Nigeria Prison Service has 300 personnel.
“We have been taking our personnel through various stakeholders meeting and workshops to guide them against misbehaving or handling those who want disrupt the voting exercise”, he said .
He said as plans to avoid any involvement of security personnel in any form of violence or electoral offense, no police man would be allow to lead any politician to help subvert the electoral process and if they subvert the law, “we shall hold them responsible or accountable to truncate the exercise.”
