The Nigeria Police Command in Kogi state has banned the use of fireworks and “knockout” in the state during Christmas and New year celebrations.
The Command’s PPRO, William Aya in a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dauda Dabban, warned that anybody caught in the act would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law of the land.
The Commissioner therefore called on all parents to caution their children and wards, particularly the youths and teenagers who are fond of playing banger to desist from such act as Police is determined to deal decisively with anybody that want to cause disturbance of public peace.
The Commissioner advised all law abiding people in the state to go about their legitimate businesses and warned that the Command will not hesitate to apply the full wrath of the law against persons who take the law into their hands.
To this end, the Commissioner urged the public to promptly report any suspicious movement or activities within their neighbourhood to the nearest security agents.
