Operatives of Operation Puff Adder, a specialized unit of the Police Command in Bayelsa State have arrested a key suspect linked to the June 2025 abduction of State High Court Judge, Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Emizibo Dennis Ogbomnanatu Clement, popularly known as Ogbono, hails from Ndoro in Ekeremor Local Government Area.
Upon his arrest, the suspect claimed to be a postgraduate student at the Federal University, Otuoke.
Police sources revealed that Clement was found in possession of an old-model white Hilux vehicle allegedly used during the kidnapping.
Intelligence gathered through the tracking of two mobile phones mistakenly dropped at the crime scene further linked the suspect to other individuals already in custody for their roles in the abduction.
The arrest took place at one of the suspect’s two properties in the Edepie area of Yenagoa.
Operatives led by CSP Chris Nwaogbo had placed the properties under surveillance after recovering a motorcycle belonging to a dismissed police officer, currently on the run, from the premises.
Clement was apprehended when he visited the property to issue quit notices to his tenants. Although he arrived with military escorts, he was unaware that an armed police team was monitoring the location.
A senior officer within the Command stated that this breakthrough demonstrates the commitment of Commissioner of Police Daniel Iyamah to intelligence-led policing and the security of residents.
Justice Omukoro was abducted on June 21, 2025, at an eatery in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa and was held in captivity for 12 days before his release.
To date, the police have arrested and paraded eight suspects in connection with the case.
The Command also reiterated that Sergeant Obrientele Ebiarede, who was dismissed for his alleged involvement, remains wanted
