…As Council boss reiterates commitment to restore peace in Jos North LGA
It was Black Friday in Nigeria as yet to be identified gunmen on Thursday killed a Palace guard in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr. Wetle Gwana.
Gwana, a guard in the Palace of the District Head of Mangu, Mr. Nelson Bakfur was reportedly shot in his residence in Lanoghot village, near Sabon Gari military checkpoint at about midnight.
A Local Government official report that the guard’s son who attempted to confront the assailants was equally shot.
The son however survived with severe injuries and is currently admitted in the LGA’s Cottage hospital.
The attack comes barely a month after 16 of Kulben and Murish villages of Kombun District in the LGA were killed by suspected herdsmen.
Tensions arising from the attack have forced the regular Friday market in Mangu town to close down.
Motorists traveling through the town have equally been turned back by military forces, it is gathered.
No official comment has however been obtained on the incident.
Meanwhile, the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council Shehu Usman has reiterated his administration’s commitment to work closely with all ethnic nationalities for the growth and development of the area
Usman stated this when he played host to Yoruba Community in plateau state led by their President General Abdulhakeen Ayinde Aka at the Council Secretariat, in Jos.
Yoruba Community in Plateau State is a coalition of all Yoruba Nationality coming together with the view to foster unity and progress among the the Yoruba people in the state.
Usman noted that his administration is working very hard to improved conducive business environment to attract more investors in the area in line with the vision of the rescue administration in the state.
He used the occasion to appealed to citizens to leave in peace and respect each others culture,religion and tolerance to achieved meaningful development in the area and the state in general.
Earlier, President General Abdulhakeen Ayinde Aka told the Chairman that they are in the Local Government Secretariat to congratulate and identify with him over his appointment as the Chairman, Management Committee of Jos North Local Government Council and for the choice of their son, Michael Akitunde by Governor Simon Bako Lalong as the Supervisory Councilor for Budget and Planning and pledge their unalloyed support to the administration.
