The Chairman of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau State Chapter, Chris Hassan  has called on the electorate in the six local governments where the Southern Senatorial by-election would be held on December 5, to disregard reports that the candidate of the party has been disqualified by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC.

Hon Hassan made this call at a world press conference held at the party secretariat on Wednesday along Yakubu Gowon way opposite NTA ,Jos.

He said “the view being perpetuated by the APC that the court judgment has disqualified the PDP candidate  George Daika is not true and it is a pack of lies meant to mislead and confuse our teaming supporters ahead of election.”

According to him, the party’s candidate Hon. George Daika, is so eminently qualified that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has engaged in a campaign to smear him when, in fact, the candidate of the APC is the one that should be disqualified from participating owning to her inability to obtain a PVC .

The Chairman expressed optimism at the PDP will retain the seat lost through the death of its former occupant representing the party, Hon. Longjam considering the party’s rigorous and strategic house to house campaign in the previous weeks.

He disclosed that the party is confident of capacity and competence of its candidate ,Hon George Daika who is a seasoned politician with a wealth of experience in legislative business.

He said: “We support someone with a credibility as a former parliamentarian that has served in West African plenary so there is no space for inexperienced candidate of the APC ,we are warning them not to take this statement for granted or see it as a threat.

He challenged the APC candidate, Prof Nora Daduut to produce her voters card, if she had any.
