The Plateau State Government has announced the relaxation of the curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area, signaling a gradual return to normalcy following recent security disturbances in Angwan Rukuba.
The government said the decision was taken after relative calm was restored in the area, reflecting improved security conditions and the effectiveness of coordinated efforts by security agencies.
Under the new directive, the curfew will now be relaxed to allow movement from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, effective April 1, 2026.
The adjustment is expected to enable residents to resume lawful economic and social activities within the stipulated hours while maintaining a level of precaution to sustain peace.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, while commending the resilience of residents during the restriction period, urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding.
He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with security operatives to consolidate the gains achieved so far.
The government reaffirmed that security agencies would continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any resurgence of violence and to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
It also expressed appreciation to residents of Jos North for their patience, understanding, and support throughout the curfew period, noting that their cooperation played a critical role in restoring order.
The statement, signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and the protection of all communities in Plateau State.
