The Saturday heavy downpour that lasted several hours in Plateau State was defied by mammoth crowd to received Governor Caleb Mutfwang in the aftermath of the Appeal Court judgement that sacked him as the dully elected Governor .
The Governor’s victory was challenged by the All Progressives Congress( APC) ,Dr Nentawe Yilwatda before the elections tribunal in Jos and was affirmed as the winner of the 18th March ,2023 general elections on solid ground lack of structure and disobedience to court order by the PDP.
However,political pundits described the judgment as procured judgment by his rivals and the Governor headed to the Supreme Court to seeking the interpretation of the lower court.
Governor Caleb was received by crowd were he appealed to the people of the state that there are many hurdles that the state is passing through as a people and it must go, whatever we have experienced so far is a temporary hurdle.
Mutfwang who spoke to unprecedented crowd that welcomed him at the Jo’s Airport of Yakubu Gowon on Saturday, urged them to exercise patient and remain calm.
He said, “I come back home to thank the good people of Plateau State for their prayers, for standing with me.
He said “, I want to also thank our friends across Nigeria and across the world who have stood with us. They have shown interest in what is happening on the Plateau and I want to thank them very big to all who have prayed with us and prayed for us.
” I want to assure you that we began this project with God on our side and I want to assure you that God is still with us “,he said.
According to him that ,” by His grace, Plateau people will smile. By His grace, Plateau people will rejoice. We fear no fault of anyone and we are confident in the judiciary despite all that has happened, we are confident in the judiciary”.
Gov.Mutfwang added that “God who controls the hearts of men is going to ensure that finally God will bring joy to the people of Plateau State . Therefore,” I urge all of us to remain steadfast in prayer. To remain steadfast, there is no need for any evil talk”.
“We will not reply to those who mean evil to us. We will continue to encourage our people to remain calm and peaceful. This is our line. We will not allow anyone to destroy us. Therefore we must stay together as one family.
He disclosed that there are people who want to destroy Plateau and there are people who are not happy with our unity.
“But by the grace of God, I want to assure you all of our unflinching support to rebuild Plateau state., I want to thank you. I am proud of all the people of Plateau that let us stay together.
“I am proud and excited that you have made me your leader. I am proud of all Plateau people. Of course the divides of same. I have seen most lives rise over their defence. I have seen Christians rise over their defence.
He maintained that ,” I have seen elders, I have seen women, I have seen youths. And I said this is the Plateau direction we want to go. I therefore want just to remain united, to remain peaceful. Every journey, every journey from violence to freedom has its own kickoff.
“There are many hurdles you must go through . And whatever we have experienced so far is a temporary hurdle. And by the grace of God we will reach the promised life,” .
