Pensioners in Plateau State have dragged the state government to the National Industrial Court, (NIC) for non- payment of their pensions and gratuity.
However, the scheduled hearing on Monday was stalled due to the absence of the presiding judge, who is away on elections tribunal assignment.
The matter was later adjourned to June 25, 2024 for indefinite hearing on the originating summon seeking the order of the court to enforce the pensioner’s fundamental right.
The counsel who declined to mention his name told journalists that at this stage of the suit, it was wrong to disclose the category of pensioners that approached the court.
He advised that as the suit had been adjourned to the 25th June,2024 that day would be the time for him to grant interview with authority.
The plaintiff counsel who was also present in readiness for the proceeding left the court premises at Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Jos, almost immediately he realised the exercise was truncated due to the absence of the trial judge.
The retirees who assembled outside the National Industrial Court premises waiting patiently for their counsel to brief them on development, later dispersed in disappointment, refusing to entertain any questions.
