4,600 women and youths in Langtang North Local Government of Plateau State have benefited from soft loans and skill acuisition facilities provided by the Federal and State governments.
The Management Committee Chairman of Langtang North, Hon Brian Bingtim Dadi disclosed this at the polo venue of 2017 Southern Trade Fair Day celebration in Jos .
He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Simon Bako Lalong for providing the soft loans and skill acquisition facilities to empowered women and Youth in the LG.
Dadi said the challenges of insecurity posed by cattle rustling in the LG has been tackled with the introduction of inter-border cooperation with other LG to manage the crises. He said this has boosted the tourism potential of the LG and enhanced the major occupation of the indigenous Tarok people which is agriculture in the area of cultivated crops such as groundnut, Millet, Guinea corn, beans, yam, cassava and beniseed.
“You know that on assumption of office I met a lot of security challenges ranging from cow theft, armed robbery syndication but today we have been able to reduce them to their barest minimum now “, he said.
He said the skill acquisition and vocational training have kept the people busy, noting that commercial banks have set up their branches in Langtang and thereby helped in boosting commercial activities in the locality.
According to him some of the major physical features of the LGA which are of scenic beauty and tourist attraction are the famous Kwallak hills, Maybe hills, Jat Rock, Lagab hills, Ndong Laka hills as well as hotels. He stressed that there are other local industries like blacksmithing, pottery, wood carving and weaving which serve the small scale and cottage industry of the people in addition to agriculture.
Chairman of the occasion, Hon Hitter Dadi described of Plateau state as a hub of tourism potential of Nigeria apart from the mining activity taking place in the state to improve its economic base.
He urged the investors not to be mindful of the recent security challenges, which he said has been nipped in the board, adding that the southern part is the main agricultural produce centre of the state.

She appealed to state government to pay the civil servants so that they can fully participate in the trade fair.
