Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State
The National Executive Council, NEC, of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has set up committees for the conduct of its national convention scheduled for October 30, 2021.
At the meeting which was attended by Atiku Abubakar, 13 governors elected on the party’s platform, former PDP governors as well as members of NEC and Board of Trustees on Thursday, the party created committees and appointed officers for the conduct of the national convention.
The committees and their officers are the Convention Organising Committee with Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri as chairman and his Bayelsa counterpart, Duoye Diri as his deputy while Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde would serve as secretary.
Others are the zoning committee to be chaired by Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State as his deputy while Zamfara State deputy governor, Mohammed Mahdi would serve as the secretary.
National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbodinyan told journalists after the meeting that: “NEC met today to further discuss critical issues concerning the party. NEC commends the efforts of the National Working Committee, the PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Assembly Caucus and other stakeholders in resolving the challenges confronting the party.
“NEC approved the composition of the National Convention Planning Committee as well as the Zoning Committee to zone National Working Committee offices.
The outcome of the meeting has effectively sealed the fate of embattled national Chairman, Uche Secondus.
