The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, has described its rising popularity as the fear of the opposition political party and mischief makers.
The PDP in a statement in reaction to a sponsored report published in some National Dailies with the title: Crisis Rocks Kogi PDP Primaries over alleged imposition of candidates, described the allegation as baseless, false, neither here or there.
The PDP in the statement says the state governorship primaries is due for next year, wondered how some mischief makers would be crying foul over a process that has not began and has no date.
According to the statement signed by Achadu Dickson, Director Research and Documentation, the PDP says having repositioned the PDP to take over the State in 2019, it is now more concerned about the State and National Assembly Election.
The PDP in its statement acknowledged that Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Governor of the state remains the leader of the party, described as mischief taken too far by those scared of the PDP, when the writers of the misleading publication would allege that news filtering in indicates that the former governor has perfected plans to install his son as sole governorship candidate weeks to the Governorship Primaries.
The PDP commended Alh. Ibrahim Idris who’s efforts at rebranding the party has brought in former members like, Former acting Governor, Clarence Olafemi, Chief John Odawn, Senator Nicholas Ugbane, and several others too numerous to mentioned back to the party.
The PDP described the writers of the publication as people who are not in tune with the political timetable of Kogi State politics, urged them to get themselves acquainted with information on when Kogi state governorship election would hold, pointing out that what is expected to hold in a few weeks time is State and National Assembly party Primaries not governorship.
The Kogi State PDP says it makes bold to announce that it membership rank has swelled tremendously in the last few months, stating that on a daily basis, the party keep receiving mass defectors from the opposition party to its fold, a feat that makes the PDP a bride, the party to beat in the State, with every indication pointing to the fact that it would reclaim Lugard House, the seat of government in 2019.
The PDP says it has it on good authority that about eighteen aspirants of proven integrity and with the capacity to win the next governorship election have indicated their interest to vie for governorship primaries of the State, likely to hold between August and September in 2019.
According to the statement, the writers in an attempt to create disaffection for the party using blackmail, a plan their write up failed to achieve, stooped so low to have singled out a particular aspirant of the party all in an attempt to score cheap point. They however didn’t disagree with the individual’s capacity and constitutional rights to aspire as governor, rather choose the blackmail option. For the benefit of doubt, the children of former governor Ibrahim Idris have a remain right to aspire, with the electorates left to decide their fate.
The statement says never has the PDP in the State been this united, adding that the party became this strong by ensuring that every stakeholder of the party partakes in decision making, described the fear of the opposition and mischief makers as the sinister motive behind the malicious publication.
The PDP said as much as the writers of the wicked and mischievous publication tried to pull down the popularity of the PDP, it expressed happiness that even the writers Summersalted at some point in their write up that Alhaji Ibrahim Idris had denied any attempt at imposition, thus making the writers intention and allegation a figment of their own imaginations.
The PDP urged the general public to disregard the allegation raised by the mischief makers who from the concocted story lacks sources with no bye line, described the party as open to those interested.
On the Eastern Senatorial district Election. The PDP pointed out that at no time has Mohammed Audu, son of late Prince Abubakar Audu who recently Joined the PDP got an automatic ticket, but said he is however free to run the Senate race alongside others who may be interested if he so wish.
The PDP therefore urged its teeming members to disregard the misleading report as it falls short of logic and meaning, says it was particularly sponsored by those afraid of the PDP making a rebound to win all State and National Assembly seats in forthcoming 2019 elections, and consequently take over Lord Lugard House.
The PDP disclosed that amongst the eighteen aspirants that indicated their interest to vie for the governorship seat. The Party says it makes bold to say that all of it aspirants have the capacity to win the governorship election in 2020 without being imposed.
The statement urged it aspirants to disregard the misleading publication adding that a level playing field would be created for all it aspirants to emerge in all elections.
