The forum of permanent secretaries in Kogi have drummed their support for the return of Governor Yahaya Bello to Lugard House come November 16 governorship election in the state.
The forum hailed the ongoing civil service reform under the incumbent governor, saying that his return to Lugard House would ensure the sustainability of the feat.
While describing Bello’s civil service reform as a progressive step that had moved the state to the next level, the forum said the governor’s second term would also enable him consolidate on achievements recorded during his first tenure.
The chairman of the forum, Jibrin Okeme, represented by Abubakar Akowe made the decision of the forum known after its meeting with the Special Adviser to Governor Bello on Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Abubakar Ohere held in Lokoja midweek.
The forum expressed satisfaction with the level play ground kind of administration of the governor devoid of injustice and assured of their maximum support in moving the state forward, adding that “we are in the same boat with Governor Bello. Wherever he goes we will go with him. ”
The forum said with the surgical operation carried out in the civil service, the service is now operating at its optimum and passed a vote of confidence on the Special Adviser, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, for holding his head high in piloting the affairs of the ministry.
The forum noted that as challenging as the reforms maybe, the gains inherent could not be quantified, stressing that the benefits outlives the pains.
Earlier, the Special Adviser thanked the permanent secretaries for their positive inputs in the civil service. He assured them that government would continue to do its best in placing high premium in the state civil service.
The Special Adviser described the governor as a man with passion for entrenching a service that would truly be the engine room of government.
Ohere therefore charged the permanent secretaries to replicate Governor Bello’s positive civil service reforms in their various ministries and parastatals.
