…As It Rounds Off First Phase of Working Visit

The leadership of Oyo State Command of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) has kick-started the new year with a working visit to all local governments in the state.
The three-day working visit to all local government councils including the newly created local government development areas commenced on Monday January 8.
For effectiveness and efficiency, Ibadanland was segmented into three : Area one comprises Ibadan North, Akinyele, Ido and Ibadan Northwest local government councils. Area two comprises Ibadan Southwest, Ibadan Southeast,Ibadan Northwest and Oluyole councils. Area three which comprises Egbeda, Ona-Ara and Lagelu councils brought the first phase of the working visit to an end.
Ibadan Area one which was the first port of call was hosted by Ibadan North Local Government Area.
The Command’s leaders who accompanied the State Commandant, Dr. Oludare Adesina, to the area included Deputy State Commandant(Operations), Patriot Femi Oyedepo ; Deputy State Commandant(Special Duties), Patriot Patience Olofu; Chief Operation, Patriot Agbi Henry and Patriot Edah Christy.
The Commandant Adesina and some leaders of the command paid a courtesy visit to the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Areas, Hon. Adebayo Adegoke.
Welcoming the Commandant and his officers, Hon. Adegoke who lauded efforts of Peace Corps in engaging Nigerian youths, urged the agency to employ modern technology and devices in carrying out its mandates.
The council chief who said Peace Corps has a critical role to play in the security architecture of the country urged the agency to integrate soft security into the system. He promised to assist the agency in whatever way to achieve its lofty mandates.
Responding, Commandant Adesina said he would relay the message to National Commandant, Amb. (Dr.) Dickson Akoh, stressing that the agency which is peopled by the youth would definitely key into the concept.
Across all areas visited, the commandant first of all held management meetings with Commanders and their Executives in the morning while general meetings held with officers and men of the of the command in the afternoon .
The meetings started with empowerment lectures on how to make money via Your Time Pays. Your Time Pays was anchored by Patriot Olajide Akinade Olanlokun, the Commander of Ibadan West Local Government Development Area Command. He gave tips on how the officers and men of the agency could make millions of naira legitimately by keying into the online investment. Stressing that the Return on Investment (RoN) would be mouthwatering and left mouths ajar.
Olanlokun, Your Time Pays resources person, who is an online marketing aficionado, is a graduate of Accountancy.
Speaking at the meetings, Dr. Adesina charged the officers to strictly observe PCN dress code.
“Be serious about dressing, officers are looking up to you as Commanders”, Dr. Adesina said while imploring the officers and men to dress appropriately.
The Commandant’s lectures centred on general service duty, self-human capital development, security and safety, alternative dispute resolutions peace and conflicts resolutions strategies and others.
” As a leader you must develop yourself. The biggest room is the room for improvement. Try to acquire more knowledge. This year you must develop yourself. Attend seminars, conferences, symposia; read books and newspapers” he said.
The first phase which was rounded off on Wednesday was hosted by Lagelu local government area.
