The Oyo State Executive Council has approved the establishment of a Bureau of Planning and Development Control in the state.
Briefing journalists on Monday in Ibadan, Mr Toye Arulogun, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism after the State Executive Council meeting, said that the establishment of the bureau was in furtherance of meeting the objectives of modernizing and turning around the landscape of the state.
The bureau was expected to embark on the task of modernizing the state, physical appearance and eliminates indiscriminate physical development.
The bureau would also engage in urban renewal and physical planning activities, likewise deplore its resources to physical infrastructural development of the state.
According to information commissioner:”One of the cardinal programs of Gov.Abiola Ajimobi-led administration is to modernize the state. This administration since inception has achieved a lot in infrastructural development.
“It good to know that the mandate of the bureau was in line with Gov. Abiola Ajimobi’s transformation, restoration and repositioning agenda “.
Arulogun stated that the state ministry of justice has been mandated to give the legal backing require to the bureau.
He stated that a Director-General, who reports directly the governor, would head the agency or bureau.
