A 2019 All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant in Abia State, Chief Chikwe Udensi has said the party’s 2015 candidate, Dr. Alex Otti is not his match.
Udensi stated this while speaking to newsmen in his country home in Atani Arochukwu in Arochukwu Local Government Area, saying he remains the aspirant to beat for the nomination.
He challenged Otti, who has also declared his intention to re-contest the seat to a primaries for the nomination, which he said he would abide by its outcome if it is free and fair.
“I will be the first person to congratulate him if he emerges victorious in the spirit of sportsmanship just as I expect him to do the same for me if I carry the day,” he noted.
Udensi said he had been wondering where Otti would gather the votes to beat him in the primaries with his support of only four out of the 17 local government area chapters of the party.
He accused Otti of alleging that he was being sponsored by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in the state to distablise him and foment crisis in their party.
According to him, Otti had also been going about telling people that the government had acquired and branded 10 vehicles for his campaign which are now parked at the Government House.
The aspirant, who defected from the party to the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) to contest the 2015 election called on Otti to withdraw the statement immediately or be ready for the consequences.
“If he fails, I would have no alternative than to institute a legal action against him for the statement which in my opinion is both malicious and unacceptable to say the least,” he argued.
Speaking on his aspiration, the former governorship candidate, who claimed to be a grassroots politician, said he wants to change the political culture and narrative of the state for good.
