Osun Government says it has designed a programme to interface with the people at the grassroots across the 30 local government areas of the state.
Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the Special Adviser to Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun on Civic Engagement, made this known on Saturday in Osogbo, when Mr Olagoke Olatoye, the Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the South-West, paid a courtesy call on him.
Oyintiloye said that through the programme being anchored by his office, people at the grassroots had been engaged with various activities of the state government to enhance their living standard.
The special adviser also said that community engagements policies had been strengthened to ensure that government make positive impact on the lives of people.
“We do such engagements twice in a week across the local government areas. This is aim at sensitising, educating and informing them on the need to see what government is doing, and how they can contribute to the government policies and programmes.
“We have been able to take what the state government is doing to the doors steps of the citizens across the state, for them to have full knowledge of what the governor has been doing.
“We have also designed programmes to interface with marketers to sensitise them on the to stay safe by adhering strictly to non pharmaceutical intervention in view of the Coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the whole world,” Oyintiloye said.
The governor’s aide, however, said that the state government would continue to engage the people in programmes and policies that would benefit them.
He called for harmonious relationship among non-indigenes and indigenes to ensure they live peacefully.
Oyintiloye said that the state government, through his office, would reach out to the traditional rulers to know the grievances of the people at the grassroots for government to address them.
On need to partner with NAN, he promised that the state government would strengthen its relationship with NAN in the areas of news reportage of various government activities.
Oyintiloye acknowledged that NAN, being a leading news agency in Africa, had projected the activities of the state government positively overtime.
“NAN had been in the forefront and the centre point to other media organisations. I have been enjoying good working relationship with NAN, and this had helped in projecting my political carrier.
“We know the effectiveness of agency like NAN, and we appreciate the cooperation of the agency with the state government in terms of news reportage, which had projected image of the state positively.
Earlier, Olatoye said that NAN would continue to partner with the state government in ensuring that only factual information was disseminated to the public.
“We want your partnership by engaging NAN with information about the government’s activities.
“So, when you engage NAN by giving the agency first hand information, be rest assured that the information will go far.
“We have partnership with other news agencies across the globe, and NAN has the spread across the 36 states of the federation. Collaborate with us, give us information about the government activities, and at the end of the day, you will be happy with the agency.
“We believe that with your position, you can project NAN and its products to the state government,” he said.
