The governorship candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State, Mr. Wole Adedoyin has promised to provide the public school students of Osun state with access to quality education as part of his commitment his campaign promise.
Adedoyin, said this at a press briefing yesterday during which he discussed the state of education in Osun state, while also committing to a list of citizen’s demands ensuring quality education in government schools.
He however commended the incumbent governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola for rebranding the face of education in the state.
Mr. Adedoyin promised to implement broad based learning so that students may possess the necessary knowledge and disciplinary tools while in school.
Adedoyin whose manifesto focuses exclusively on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education said it was his party’s policy to prioritize scientific education, for which they will train teachers and upgrade curriculum.
Mr. Adedoyin also spoke about increasing the budget allocated for education while also high-lightening the need to strictly regulate and monitor private and public schools.
He promised to initiate and commit to a charter that will be based on the demands of parents, teachers and community members in Osun state.
Meanwhile the party has picked Mr. Olawale Adesoye Adewumi as its deputy governorship candidate.
According to party’s publicity secretary, Mr. Dada Olusegun the decision was reached after wide consultations with stakeholders in the state.
He said “The elders’ caucus of the party, after serious meeting and deliberation finally agreed that Mr. Olawale Adesoye Adewumi should be the running mate of their party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Wole Adedoyin.”
He assured the public that the governorship campaign of HDP would soon be officially flagged off.
