..APC Stalwarts Threaten to Dump Party

Oshiomhole and party officials at a press conference, recently.
The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhola and campaign officials of the party on Friday received defectors from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state during the kick-off of the governorship campaign in Plateau State
The defectors included former governorship candidate of APGA, Amb Chris Giwa, and former PDP chieftains, Hon Abubakar Dashe, Loranzo Gwatau and Chief Simon Ngwan.
Oshiomhole described the defection as the best thing that could happen to them politically by abandoning those he described as “People Deceiving People” by to join those in the home of achievers.
Oshomole told the party faithful to embark on campaign of issues and building strong support for the re-election of Governor Simon Lalong for him to accomplish meaningful development to the people of Plateau state.
Other dignitaries at the occasion included Minister for Transport and President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Director –General, Rotimi Amechi ,Governor Simon Lalong, Mrs Pauline Tallen , Senator Gorge Akume , who arrived the Rwang Pam Stadium to flag off governorship campaign and receiving defectors across the state.
Our correspondent reports that the crowd within and outside the stadium created a gridlock outside as vehicular traffic came to a standstill.
Lalong who arrived the stadium at about 1: 31 pm on Friday in company of the All Progressive Congress National chairman Adams Oshiomhole other national officials of the party , urged the people to vote for the governor and the president of the party so that they can continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Amaechi urged the to hold leadership and members of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP), responsible for the hardship they are facing.
He said the 16 years rule of the PDP, has sponsored the Commonwealth of Nigerians, adding that it is why today Nigerians are suffering from looting.
“They are telling Nigerians, that Nigerians are hungry, if indeed Nigerians are hungry, if these people have left the money that they have stolen will Nigerians be hungry,”? he asked.
Ameachi said the coming elections is between the poor and the rich, saying that the PDP is the party of the rich while the APC is that of the poor.
“You can take away that Lalong, is very humble person, he lives to his promised and so the best to do is to vote him back to power so that he can continue with he is doing, ” he urged the people.
The National chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshimole, said Lalong has for the past three years worked to ensure that there is peace in the state, stressing that he has installed seom infrastructure and paid workers salaries, “even with little that he is receiving from the federation account.”
He said: “PDP under Obasanjo with Atiku Abubakar, as vice President they spent 16 billion US dollars, in all the dollars they have spent there is darkness in Nigeria, so when President Muhammadu Buhari, says where is the power, if the President started pursuing the answer to logical conclusion then we must bring them to trial…”
Oshiomole further said: “The President must bring Obasanjo on trial, we must reopen the National Assembly enquiry into the expenditure of power.”
Meanwhile a mild drama took place before the campaign kick-off as Director General of the campaign team, P D Gyang threatened to resign, just as other party chieftains, who grumbled that they were being sidelined in the coordination of the campaign.
Our correspondent gathered that, while the State Chairman of the party, Chief Letep Dabang had been accused of hijacking the exercise, refusing to consult other party officials and carrying out activities alone. He is accused of “organising press conference and doing other activities of the flag –off,” alone.
According to one of the aggrieved party official; “The DG, Arch. Dung Pam, APC State Secretary and other executive members of the party were absolutely not involved either in the in the organization of the news conferences or aware of the committee that invited guests and other persons to grace the occasion.”
An executive member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in one of the electoral wards in Jos north, said they were not involved and all they knew was publicity was made on the radio that tomorrow (Friday), the campaign would be flagged off.
“We are members of Excos, other members and supporters of the APC have been asking us about any arrangements, and we told them that we are not officially aware, because from the State to Local Government levels of the party no one gave us any official information, except the announcement we here on the radio,” he said.
According to him the action of the State chairman of the party is a threat the road map to success of the party in the general election.
“Because already some of our leaders in the party are not happy and we are afraid that some of them would not even attend the flag off, and the most annoying is that the DG is alleged to threatened to resign as DG of the campaign.
“One other thing that would even make a lot of our supporters to attend is that they chose Friday to the flag off,” he said.
He added that though people still support the party, because of Governor Lalong and President Buhari, “so I don’t think that we will loss the election, but the State chairman of our party should know that we must work as a team.”
All efforts to gets comments from the Chairman, Chief Letep Dabang, was not successful, as his telephone line was not reachable as at the time of compiling this report.
