Ooni, Babalola, offer to Convene Summit on Nigeria’s woes

Founder of Afe Babalola University, a private institution, Aare Afe Babalola had resolved to convoke an all inclusive national summit to proffer solutions to the emergent challenges facing Nigeria.
According to the legal icon and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, there is urgent need to convene an emergency conference to brainstorm and proffer workable solutions to myriads of socio-economic challenges serving as clog in the wheel of Nigeria’s search for sustainable growth and development.
The renowned legal luminary spoke at his University campus in Ado metropolis at the 10th Afe Babalola Annual Public Lecture, organised by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA),  Ado Ekiti branch.
Babalola explained that the intervention  was primarily borne out of his incurable desire to ensure that the country does drift into anarchy, saying all hands must be on deck to avert another civil war.
He said, ” No where is safe in the country at the moment and it is important that stakeholders must come together to find lasting solutions. I am appealing to our own revered Ooni of Ife seated here today, to get in touch with all living former presidents of the country, religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil societies groups and other stakeholders to have a summit of the leaders which will be tilted, ‘Summit of Hope’
” The summit will discuss, suggest and take positive actions to prevent Nigeria from drifting into anarchy and another civil war. Ooni you have the influence, the charisma , the strength to convene this summit soon. To show my seriousness, I hereby donate the sum of N50 million to kick start the funding of the summit and that is without prejudice to further donations in the future.”
He said the conference which would take place at his university campus anytime from now, would have eminent Nigerians including all former Presidents of the country, leading traditional rulers including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alaafin of Oyo, Ewi of Ado Ekiti and Obi Of Onitsha.
Apart from the traditional rulers, former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kuka, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Theophilus Danjuma,  Prof Wole Soyinka, and Chief Ayo Adebanjo.
Others are the Senate President and his deputy, Speaker of House of Rep and his deputy, Chairman of NGF, Speakers and deputies of State Houses of Assembly, Vice Chancellors of public and private univer sities, leadership of Miyeti Allah, Independent People of Biafra, Arewa Consultative Forum, Chief Gani Adams and Chief Sunday Ighoho among other sectional leaders
To achieve this, the legal icon donated a sum of N50 million and offers facilities in ABUAD, including the five star hotel, helipad, multi-system hospital, 7,000-seater multi-purpose hall towards the successful hosting of the summit.
He, however, called Oba Ogunwusi to summon the courage and reach out to other traditional rulers and leaders in making the summit a reality in no distant future so as to prevent total collapse of Nigeria.
Responding, Oba Ogunwusi who chaired the event commended Babalola for his untiring patriotism and commitment for the progress of the country.
The first class monarch said as the co-Chairman of National Traditional Council of Nigeria he supported the idea of the national summit to find a common front on the  order to salvage the nation.
He described Babalola has a legend and great achiever whose deeds for human race remains unparallel, saying his foot prints in education, agriculture and legal realm has etched his name on the sand of time.
