The President of St Murumba College Old Boys Association (SMOBA), Jos, Rev. Fr Joseph Choji has said the alumni has concluded arrangements to build 200 millions Naira worth of hostel accommodation to boost academic activities of the college .
Fr Choji made this disclosure in a press conference to herald activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the school. The activities include free medical outreach, road walk ,Church service and prayers on Friday, among other activities .
He said the deplorable state of their football pitch will receive attention from the old boys who have promised to revamp sporting activities of the college to a standard that can promote extra curricular activities.
He said the standard of education is decay completely in Nigeria with some parents contributing to the moral collapse that require legislative aims to take a drastic measure in other to address the problem.
The Rev,Fr Joseph frowned at were senior civil servants are taken their children outside the shores of Nigeria by turning their back to public schools is the major causing us falling standard of education.
According to him, taking children abroad for education does not necessarily translate into brilliance or good behaviour for the children, adding that parents and officials in government need to pay more attention to the critical needs of school children and give them the right environment to excel.
He blamed Nigeria government for not given value to education ,so many people prefer to sent their children outside this show that the country is shying away from spending money on education .
Choji maintained that government most give priority to education to give opportunity to the children of the poor who are unable to attend school while those in government spend huge amount of money sending their children outside the shores of the country on scholarship
