The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday, Presented N820,490,585,443 Draft Budget for the 2026 fiscal year to Kogi State House of Assembly.
The proposed recurrent expenditure stands at N367,448,083,683 and capital expenditure, N453,042,501,760 respectively.
The Budget tagged: Budget Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All; when compared with the 2025 revised budget has an increase of N215,961,592,725
Governor Ododo while making the presentation at the State House of Assembly Complex, said that the 2026 budget proposal reflect a robust and balanced financial strategy that emphasizes enhanced revenue generation, strategic control, and strong commitment to capital investment.
He noted that the significant increase in both recurrent revenue and capital expenditure underscores government’s determination to expand infrastructure and improve service delivery.
He commended the lawmakers for their partnership, diligence, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Kogi state. “Your Legislative support and oversight continue to strengthen our agenda for sustainable prosperity
“I also extend my profound appreciation to the citizens of Kogi state for their resilience, patriotism, and steadfast support. Despite ongoing economic challenges, your trust continues to inspire our government’s efforts to build a strong, inclusive, and productive economy”
ln his welcome address, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar Yusuf Aliyu, gave an assurance that the house will ensure speedy and timely passage of the budget to enable government carry out its infrastructural development across the three senatorial districts of the state without much delay.
The Speaker commended Governor Ododo’s giant strides in healthcare, education, road infrastructure, agriculture and public financial management which he said has reflected in his administration’s vision of a stable, prosperous and inclusive Kogi State.
“Your Excellency’s administration has demonstrated remarkable dedication to improving the living condition of the people of Kogi State through provision of essential social services, thereby cushioning the effects of prevailing economic challenges for the benefit of our citizens. There is no doubt that the people of Kogi State are experiencing renewed confidence and stability under your leadership, which has consistently prioritized the welfare and security of our citizens, the primary purpose of government, with humility and commitment.
