The Obidient Movement has disclaimed a report in the media indicating that the it has decided to collapse its structures nationwide in support of the second term presidential ambition of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
According to a statement purportedly signed by a certain Alhaji Ahmad Abulfathi, the supposed leader of the group, the movement is collapsing its “national, zonal, state, local government, and ward political structures into the Nationwide Tinubu Connect Associates (NTCA)”.
The statement said the realignment came “after a high-level deliberation held in Lagos between the Obedient Movement and a certain Henry Nwabueze, the National Leader of NTCA. All 36 state coordinators of the Obedient Movement endorsed the merger, signaling their full integration into the NTCA structure to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027”.
In a reaction to this development, Director Strategic Communications & Media, Obidient Movement, Nana Kazaure said the report is false and it’s signatory faceless.
in a statement made available to THISAGE, on Tuesday Kazaure said,
“The Obidient Movement wishes to alert Nigerians and members of the international community that this purported merger is totally false and smacks of a desperate attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and it’s agents to leverage the global renown and respect accorded the Obidient Movement, to whitewash its floundering reputation after ten disastrous years in power.
“For the record, there is no entity known to Nigerians or the Nigerian public as “Obedient Movement”. What exists and is recognised worldwide is the *Obidient Movement* which has the well-known Dr. Yunusa Tanko, as its National Coordinator and His Excellency Peter Obi as it’s Leader, worldwide. The so-called Alhaji Abulfathi who purportedly went into a merger with what is obviously a non-existent entity, which exists only in the desperate minds of his creators.
“Ordinarily we ought to be amused at both the desperation and tardiness of the ruling party to remain in power beyond 2027 even when it is manifestly clear that they have not only brought a once thriving country to its knees but have equally deepened primordial ethnic and religious fault lines in the country. The situation the nation finds itself at the moment particularly as this government has proved incapable of stemming the wanton blood-letting across the land, rather calls for sober reflection.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Obidient Movement remains solidly behind His Excellency, Peter Gregory Obi in his quest to prise Nigeria from the strangulating grip of the rapacious and self-aggrandizing characters in the APC. We re-affirm that with His Excellency, Peter Obi in the saddle in 2027, the enervating blanket of doom, which has cast a pall of darkness over Nigeria in the last decade, would be lifted to usher in a new Nigeria anchored on justice, unity, tolerance, and respect for fundamental freedoms.
“We advise Nigerians not to be deceived by the APC’s latest attempt at distracting attention away from it monumental failure in providing sound and qualitative governance and of creating the needed conditions for the unlocking of the genius of Nigerian youths who are daily leaving our beloved country in droves everyday in search of better life in countries less endowed materially and intellectually than Nigeria.
“The Obidient Movement remains one strong and indivisible entity with its national leadership and state chapters committed to the quest to democratically upend the unjust system of patronage, nepotism and entitlement that has ensured that Nigeria continues to punch far below its weight locally and internationally.
“We believe, as always, that despite the pervasive malfeasance fostered by the incompetence of the APC-led Federal Government, that a New Nigeria is Possible in 2027 with His Excellency, Peter Obi piloting Nigeria’s affairs.”
