L-R: Obi and Kwankwaso
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and that of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Senator Rabiu Kwanwaso have cast their votes at their respective hometowns.
Obi cast his vote at polling unit 019, Ward 2, in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State while Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, of the NNPP, voted in his polling unit 4 at Galadinma-Riga ward in Kwankwaso town in Madobi Local government.
Like Obi, Kwankwaso voted in an open space, without cubicle.
Kwankwaso arrived his polling unit at about 11:10am, was accredited and voted immediately. His polling unit was overcrowded and rowdy. His granting of interview right at the point of casting his vote, didn’t help the rowdiness.
Accompanied by tight security comprising the police, the Directorate of State Security, DSS, Obi who was accompanied by his wife, said voting was orderly and he had to queue to take his turn.
Kwankwaso appealed to officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to look into some lapses in the voting process, sighting example with himself as he had to vote in a different unit because his name was missing in the register of his ward. He appealed to INEC be patient with the crowd so that every voter cast their vote.
“The system so far has been cumbersome. My name was not in the voter register where I was supposed to vote. I hope this is not what is happening across the country. I appeal to INEC to be exercise patience so that all eligible voter is able to cast their votes.
