Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed sympathy with Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi Sanusi 11 over his dethronement by the Kano state government and subsequent banishment to Nasarawa State for violating the traditions and culture of the people. He was immediately replaced by Aminu Ado Bayero, son of late Emir, Ado Bayero, whom Sanusi succeeded.
In a letter personally signed by him, and addressed as “Your Royal Highness and Brother”, Obasanjo said that he woke up in the morning to hear the sad news and said, “It is sad because it was underserved. My prayer is that God should give you the fortitude and the courage to continue on the path that your have chosen for yourself in the best interest of our country and humanity…”
