
Oba Ewuare 11
The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Ewuare 11 on Sunday gave names to his quadruplets after the necessary rites were performed at Ugha-Eroba axis (ancestral ceremonial hall) of the palace where prayers of protection, guidance and prosperity were offered for the three infant princes and a princess at the ancient alter of their forebear.
Shortly after the prayers in line with the palace tradition, Oba Ewuare gave names to his new babies which was announced by Chief Letema who acted in the absence of Head of Ihogbe group, Chief Ihama.
The names were Odoligie, Utomwen Azaka, Amadin and Iriagbonse. The quadruplets were delivered in August last year by Her Royal Highness, Oloi Aisosa Ewuare.
Dignitaries from all walks of life were present at the colourful event which began at the presidential office of the palace with a formal presentation of the babies to entire royal family members, chiefs and top palace functionaries by the Oba. Notable among them were the palace guilds, namely Emelhe, Isikhuan groups ( royal praise singers), including chiefs of different grades.
