After two days of depreciation in the month of July 2017, transaction on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange opens the new month of August on a positive note as the All Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization increased by 2.45 percent, while the Year-to-Date return stood at 36.64 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 36,720.62 against the previous close of 35,844.00 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.656 trillion against previous close of ₦12.354 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 73.33 percent from 490.164 million to 849.603 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 1686.03 percent from ₦5.266 billion to ₦94.049 billion in 5,602 deals.
The Industrial Goods sector led the activity chart with 419.62 million shares exchanged for ₦87.805 billion. Financial Services came next with 319.42 million shares traded for ₦3.427 billion, Consumer Goods, Conglomerates, Healthcare sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Dangote Cement Plc, FBN Holding, Access Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, and FCMB Holding Plc were the most active stocks by volume.
Linkage Assurance Plc, National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc, Dangote Cement Plc, C& I Leasing Plc and Dangsugar emerged the highest price gainers, while Morison Industries Plc, Forte Oil Plc, Eterna Oil Plc, Julius Berger Plc, and Okomu oil Palm Plc topped the loser’s chart.
A total of 102 companies stocks were traded with 32 gainers and 20 losers while 50 stock prices remained unchanged at the close of business on Tuesday.
