After three days of losses that opened the month of July 2017, the key market indicators of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday showed a positive signs as the All Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization increased by 0.16 percent, while the Year-to-Date return stood at 20.39 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 32,354.78 against the previous close of 32,302.32 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦11.151 trillion against the previous close of ₦11.133 trillion.
Volume traded decreased by 45.88 percent from 311.381 million to 168.513 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 21.93 percent from ₦2.975 billion to ₦3.627 billion in 3,536 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 105.616 million shares exchanged for ₦1.58 billion. Conglomerates came next with 22.48 million shares traded for ₦0.035 billion, Consumer Goods, Agriculture, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Transcorp Plc, FBN Holding Plc,, Sterling Bank Plc and Livestock Feeds Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Oando Plc, AXA Mansard, 7Up Bottling Company Plc, Cutix Plc and FCMB Holding Plc, emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while May & Baker, UAC Nigeria Plc, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Flourmill Nigeria Plc and Redstar express Plc topped the loser’s chart.
In all 100 stocks was traded, with 20 gainers and 23 losers, while 57 companies shares prices remained unchanged at the close of business on Thursday.
