Activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued its appreciation which started on Monday for third weeks in the month of July, 2017, as the All Share Index and the Market Capitalization increased by 0.41 percent at the close of business on Tuesday.
While the Year-to-Date return stood at 24.42 percent. The All Share Index closed at 33,436.61 against the previous close of 33,301.43 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦11.524 trillion against previous close of ₦11.477 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 644.59 percent from 322.814 million to 2403.647 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 690.43 percent from ₦2.734 billion to ₦21.613 billion in 3,715 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 2365.906 million shares exchanged for ₦20.606 billion. Oil And Gas came next with 14.483 million shares traded for ₦0.172 billion, Consumer Goods, Conglomerates, Agriculture sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
United Bank for Africa Plc, Continental Re- Insurance Plc, FBN Holding Plc, Oando Plc and Skye Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Honeywell Flour Mill, Union Bank of Nigerian, Julius Berger Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc and Beta Glass Plc emerged the highest price gainers.
On the other hand, May & Baker, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc, Continental Re-Insurance Plc and Cadbury Nigerian Plc topped the losers’ chart. 101 companies’ shares were traded with 25 gainers and 19 losers, while 57 stock prices remained unchanged at the close of business on Tuesday.
