NSA Urged to Effect Release of Lennin Immediately

The Save Public-Education-Campaign, Nigeria, SPEC has condemned in strong terms the abduction of Michael Lennin, an educational Rights Activist by operatives of the State Security Services, under the direction of the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA. in the wee hours of Monday the 5th of August.

Lennin is a very committed and patriotic Citizen who has vigorously championed the cause of access to education for Youths and the Masses of Nigeria.

He is the national Co-ordinator of Education Rights Campaign, (ERC), a sister organization with which SPEC collaborates closely, in its works. Lennin has been actively involved in coordinating the peaceful Mass Protest in Abuja, going on to demand an end to bad Governance in the Country.

Meanwhile, the DSS in a statement posted Monday, on X, said its operatives have arrested the sponsors of the tailors while the investigation is ongoing but added that Adaramoye Michael, national coordinator of Youth Rights Campaign (YRC), allegedly arrested by the DSS, is not in its custody.
Director of Mobilisation, Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, told newsmen earlier that Lenin was arrested by the secret police around 2 am on Monday, at his residence in the Apo area of the FCT.
“The DSS can confirm that Adaramoye Michael (aka Michael Lenin), is not in its custody,” the DSS said in the X message.
However, Convener, Save-Public-Education-Campaign, Nigeria, Comrade Vivian Bello, said information at their disposal showed that Michael Lennin along with two other Activists Mosiu Sodiq and Sankara, were abducted in a gestapo manner from their abode by these Security Operatives, taken away and have since remained incommunicado. The office of the NSA has since refused all requests to disclose the whereabouts of the activists.

“The Save-Public-Education-Campaign, hereby demand the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Lennin and the other Activists arrested alongside him.

“Lennin and his co-Activists have not committed any offence and this brazen abduction and illegal detention represent yet another sad phase of state-sponsored Repression against Civic Space. It is indeed quite worrisome to us at the Education Platform, that the NSA’s Operatives can invade a Home at night and abduct Activists, Citizens in a gestapo manner. It is indeed worrisome that this is happening in a supposed Democracy and moreso, at a time the President is calling for Dialogue.

“We candidly remind the National Security Adviser, that the Office is a Creation of the Law, and so must submit itself to the dictates of the Law. We unequivocally enjoin the him therefore to immediately release Lennin and others or charge them to Court if it has any case against them.”
