The Nigeria Railway Corporation has announced the cancellation of all train schedules on the Kaduna Abuja Sector following the detonation of dynamite by alleged bandits on the railway track of the Kaduna bound train, yesterday.
The overnight attack which was reported to have occurred between Wednesday night and Thursday morning left passengers traumatised, with witnesses reporting that the attackers also fired live rounds into driver compartments.
This was confirmed by NRC in a statement on Thursday in which it said that services on that route had been halted to ensure safety of the passengers as investigations were ongoing to determine if the facility was actually bombed as widely speculated.
The explosive damaged the rail track and shattered the windshield of the train engine.The attackers also opened fire,targeting the driver and the tank at the Dutse and Rijana stations.The driver struggled to move towards Kaduna Rigasa station.
