The Nigerian Railway Corporations, NRC, has announced the temporary suspension of its Abuja-Kaduna route.
In a tweet on its official handle, the NRC, said the suspension was, “due to unforeseen circumstances,” adding that “further communication would be given in due course,”.
The directive is not unconnected with the early morning Tuesday attack of a Kaduna bound train by bandits who bombed off the main engine, gained entrance into some coaches where they kidnapped some passengers and shot some dead before soldiers arrived to secure the traumatized passengers and organised vehicles for them.
Recall that Kaduna airport was attacked by over 200 bandits over the weekend.
Kaduna airport was the centre of bandit attack on Saturday, March 26, leading to the grounding of a Lagos bound passenger Azma aircraft and the death of one of the staff of the Nigeria Airspace Management Authority, who had gone along with some security officers to stop the attacking bandits until re-enforcement came from airforce , which restore order and drove the bandits away.
