…Opponent, Kazaktans’ Zhan Kossobutsky Disqualified For Numerous Below The Belt Punches.
Nigeria’s Boxing Heavyweight hopeful, Efe Ajagba on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Tulsa in USA became the world Boxing Council Champion when his compatriot, Kazakhsatan’s Zhan Kossobutsky was disqualified by Ref Chris Flores in 33 seconds of their 4th of 10 rounds for repeatedly hitting Ajagba below the belt, a serious offence in boxing.
Ajagba got the decision from Ref Flores because Kossobutsky had numerous low as two punches on Ajagba that two points were deducted from his overall score in round three after he (Kosso) landed two consecutive left upper cuts well below the belt which forced Ajagba to drop to his knees in pain.
Kosso’s deliberate low punch forced Ajagba to the canvas at 33 seconds of the 4th round and Ref Flores promptly waved off the bout in favor of Ajagba.
Ajagba now has a boxing record of 18-1, 13 KO’s while erstwhile undefeated Kosso has 19-1, 18 KO’s.
In a major undercard heavyweight bout, 23 year old Jared Anderson earned 15-0, 14 KO’s after the win by unanimous decision against former Champion, Charles Martin and he remains undefeated.
Anderson’s opponent, 39 year old Andriy Rindenko (35-6, 21 KO’s) who was fighting for the first time in the USA had the intention of a second win in a row but Anderson won by Technical Knockout (TKO) in 1:40 minutes of round five.
Nigeria’s Onorede Ehwareme was dropped thrice in first round of his bout against Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov who got a TKO in 2:06 of the first round of their 8 round heavyweight bout.
Jalolov was a Gold medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games and was making a debut as a top ranking world professional Boxer.
