The Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) has released procedures and guidelines for the enrolment of institutions, organisations, workers, and students, emphasising that the process is fully digital and does not require any physical travel.
NERD’s Executive Director of Communication and Cyber Security, Haula Galadima, said in a statement to newsmen that all enrolment activities are to be completed online in real time through the official website, https://ned.gov.ng.
She noted that adequate provisions have been made to collect required information electronically, adding that a support team has also been deployed to assist users who encounter challenges during the onboarding process.
“No student or worker should leave their home or travel on account of NERD enrolment,” she said. “Everything can be completed online, and help is available throughout the process.”
Galadima advised users to begin registration by visiting the NERD website and clicking the “Start” button at the top of the page, or by going directly to https://ned.gov.ng/onboarding.
She explained that every institution and organisation in Nigeria is mandated to appoint three key officers — the NERD Focal Officer (NFO), NERD Record Officer (NRO), and NERD Digitization Officer (NDO) — in line with the directive of the Federal Government.

While confirming that hundreds of users had already completed the first phase of enrolment over the weekend, the NERD spokesperson called on institutions to urgently appoint their focal officers to validate submitted records.
Galadima further disclosed that individuals with institutional email addresses ending in Nigeria’s regulated domains, such as .edu.ng or .gov.ng, would enjoy faster verification.
“Students need their lecturers, particularly their project supervisors and Heads of Department, to enrol, as these officials are required to authenticate the student’s academic submission using the approved digital tools.”
On academic credential verification, the spokesperson reaffirmed that NERD’s system is capable of instantly validating academic credentials once the authorised record officer uploads the relevant senate or board-approved data or marksheets directly or through the platform’s API.
