NDE Empowers 1,300 Unemployed In Kogi

The National Directorate of Employment in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women Leader, Hajia  Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma has given uplifted 1,300 unemployed persons at  Anyigba in the eastern senatorial district of Kogi state.

The empowerment programme which was flagged off recently at the main auditorium of the Kogi State University, Anyigba, witnessed a large turnout of women and youths from  the nine local government areas in the eastern senatorial zone.

One hundred beneficiaries got  cash of N10,000 each  to  enhance their various businesses while 200 women who have undergone training in the field of Cosmetology received several skills acquisition equipment to boost their vocations.

Also  certificates of attendance were issued to 1000 beneficiaries who have completed the mandatory training in entrepreneurship to enable them access low interest loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

In his welcome address, the Kogi State Coordinator of NDE, Mallam Zakari Abubakar described the empowerment scheme as a call to inject into the economy vibrant young entrepreneurs who would be ready to also create employment and wealth.

In her keynote address, the APC women leader,  Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma said that the event is another clear demonstration of the commitment  President Muhammadu Buhari to gradually and eventually eradicate poverty amongst the poor & vulnerable in the country and urged the recipients to make judicious use of the resources that have been made available to them.
