National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), will in the next one week embark on Neat Assessment and Community Mapping Enumeration in Kogi state to facilitate its drive in the provision of needed basic infrastructure for victims of natural disaster in riverine communities of the state.
Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of N-HYPPADEC gave the hint during his visit to the Ata’Igala, His Royal Majesty Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa in continuation of the Flood Advocacy Sensitization at Idah in Kogi East Senatorial District.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer who was represented by his Director of Administration and Finance, Alhaji Haruna Jimoh Gabi, said that the essence of the project is geared towards uplifting the living standard of victims of natural calamities through the provision of basic infrastructure such as potable water, health facilities, roads, rural electrification and relief materials in order of needs.
“Neat Assessment and Community Mapping Enumeration will enable N-HYPPADEC know facilities that are either lacking or insufficient in various riverine communities for its quick intervention
“Am assuring you that in the next one week enumerators will commence work on the project to enable us know relevant facilities the people needed in order of their priorities”
Abubakar Yelwa called on the people of the riverine communities in Kogi to avail themselves of the opportunity and co-operate with the enumerators for the success of the project.
Responding, the Ata’Igala, His Royal Majesty Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa, commended N-HYPPADEC for its humanitarian intervention to the plight of the people describing the Neat Assessment and Community Mapping Enumeration Project as a welcome development.
Ata’Igala who was represented by one of his royal counsellors, Chief Ibrahim Atadoga, assured N-HYPPADEC of necessary cooperation by his subjects towards the realisation of the project.
He recommended construction of more dams across the country as the most solution to avert yearly occurrence of flooding in Nigeria.
