MKO Rival in 1993 Polls, Bashir Tofa Dies at 74

Bashir Othman Tofa, the National Republican Convention NRC Presidential Candidate who contested the 1992 Presidential Elections against late MKO Abiola, but was cancelled by Babangida, died early this morning in his home town Kano

A successful Kano business man and politician, Tofa was defeated in his home town of Kano by the late Abiola, who was recently awarded, posthumously, GCFR, a formal presidential status by President Buhari on June 12,2021. The day is now set aside to mark democracy day as a toast to MKO for winning the 1992 presidential election in Nigeria

Tofa, until his death this morning, was an industrialist, a successful entrepreneur of unimaginable dimension and a philanthropist of unparalleled proportion. He will be buried today in Kano according to Muslim rites, today, Monday 3, 2022.
