Ahead of the November 2019 Governorship election, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria,Kogi state chapter has declared its support for the re-election of Gov. YAHAYA Adoza Bello.
The endorsement which was done at the NUJ press centre,Lokoja on Monday had in attendance over 2,000 of its members from different parts of the state.
The National Organising Secretary, MACBAN, Alhaji Aliyu Saleh said the association’s decision to support Governor Bello was because “no administration had looked into our plight the way Gov. Bello has done since inception of the association.”
Saleh stated that the Governor had made significant efforts towards reviving grazing reserves,and also provide security measures to ensure all fulani are well secured, thereby impacting directly on the lives of MACBAN members.
He said, “We appreciate government’s programmes of transforming the social lives of kogites through empowerment schemes, agricultural development.
Speaking earlier, the State Secretary, Suleman Mohammed who pledged the association’s continuous loyalty and support for the Governor, appealed to members of the association to be law-abiding, avoid friction and utterances that were capable of causing chaos in the state.
“We represent over 30 thousand members across the state, here in attendance we have over 2,000 people who have come from all corners of the state. We have representatives from each local governments, and you heard their views; they have declared their interest in Governor YAHAYA Bello to move to the next level.”
“This is a majority decision of the congress, we as leaders, don’t have an option but to follow,” he added.
In his remarks,the commissioner for Local Government and Cheiftancy Affairs,Engr. Abubakar Sadiq Ohere thanked the leadership of Fulani community in Kogi state, promising that the governor will ensure Fulani are carried along more than before.
He also said the governor took Fulani as his brothers and would always provide them with adequate security throughout their stay in Kogi state.
