Man City Raise Hope of EPL Title With 2-0 Tottenham Win

The fear of dropping points in the EPL title race evaporated for Manchester City after a second half brace by Erling Haaland leading to a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on Tuesday night.

His 63rd goal with a Kelvin De Bruyne assist and a penalty at the dying minutes of the game proved the difference as Pep Guardiola’s side leapfrogged Arsenal to go top of the table heading into the final day of the season on Saturday, May 18 when all the final matches would be played and a champion emerges..

Tottenham had the better openings, with Brennan Johnson and Rodrigo Bentancur going close, while Guglielmo Vicario was forced into a smart save to deny Phil Foden at the other end.

Tottenham pushed for an equaliser, with Son Heung-min squandering a glorious opportunity, before Haaland sealed the points from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time after Pedro Porro had brought down Jeremy Doku.

The result leaves City’s title destiny in their own hands, knowing a win at home to West Ham on the final day will secure a fourth successive EPL crown. For Tottenham, their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League are now over after a brave but ultimately fruitless performance.
