Aston Villa soaked in the pressure in the first half but capitulated in the second and the goals began to pour in. Their right back leaked and could not be firmed up.
Raheem Sterling opened scoring in the 46th min, followed by De Bruyne in the 65th and then Ilkay Gundogan in the in the 70th, all in 24 minutes. With the win, Man City closes the gap with Liverpool, who drew with Man U last week, to three points.
It is 25 to 22 points today, Saturday. But league leaders have a game in hand. On Sunday, tomorrow, Liverpool faces Tottenham. If they win, they will restore the six- point lead. And the chase continues.
