Jesus break the deadlock for Mancity
Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock in the 80th min after a tense second half which Aguero’s missed penalty and a disallowed goal for offside only heightened for the visiting defending champion. Following deft foot walk, Riyad Mahrez waltz through the Leicester midfield and finds sub Jesus on his right. The Brazilian slotted in at the near post with flourish.
With the win, ManCity extended their lead over chasing Foxes but they are still a wide mark off soaring Liverpool with 76 points to Man City’s 57. Liverpool has a game in hand though and if City loses at a derby at Old Trafford with Manchester United or at home to Burnley, then Liverpool is almost at the point of achievement of a 30 year- old dream. Considering that all their next three matches are against bottom leaguers, the EPL is almost at an end for the take by the Reds.

Messi on song for Barca
Messi dominated the first half of the match with a hatrick, assisted by Rakitic in the 14th min, in the 37th min, with a Vidal assist and a solo effort in the 47th min before the break. He resumed scoring in the 87th min and Arthur finished off the visiting Eibar in the 89th min. It was not just a watching game for Eibar who made a goal in the 60th min but was disallowed by the referee.
New Barca window sign on, Braithwaite proved his mettle with good ball combination but lack of assistance; On tow occasions he almost got goals; in the in the 88th min after drilling a pass from Vidal that goalie Marco Dmitrov parried and talismanic Messi, lurking in the 18 yard box, slotted into the goal. So too with the winning goal by Arthur. Braithwaite had fired a shot at goal which Dmitrov saved but Arthur was near to tuck home the rebound. The win takes Barcelona top Laliga with 2 points over rival Real Madrid who have a game in hand with 53 points below Barca’s 55.
Chelsea vs Tottenham Hot Spurs, 2-1
Marcos Alonzo makes it a brace for Chelsea
In their first meeting, when Spurs played with a full compliment of its players, many thought Lampard would be taught a lesson or two by his boastful mentor, Mouriho. But the game ended 2-0 in favour of Chelsea. At Stamford Bridge, it was a Spurs without danger men, Son, Sissoko and Kane. They were out, humbled by injuries. Even so, they showed no class and match at all for routing Chelsea team who just emerged from a 2-0 spanking by Manchester United at Stamfprd Bridge a week ago. Four cahnges by Lampard, reading the match well, worked the magic. Chelsea ended this game in the first half with brilliant goals from Oliver Giroud in the 15th min and Marcos Alonzo in the 48th min. The 89th min goal from Spurs Erik Lamela which deflected off Antonio Rudger was a consolation that took a bite off their defeat at two meetings.
