The former Deputy Speaker ,and Member Representing Jos North -North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Ibrahim Baba-Hassan has eulogized Governor Simon Bako Lalong on his 60th birthday, describing him as a man with political prowess in Nigeria politics worthy of emulation .
Baba-Hassan described Lalong as “a symbol of humility, peaceful disposition as a true democrat whose qualities spurred him to many political titles .
He said ,” His position as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and the Director General of the All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council in the just concluded election demonstrate that he is political icon in Nigeria politics .
According to him ” under the stewardship of Governor Lalong I saw a true Nigerian politician who preaches and maintain the unity of oneness in the country by leading the APC Governors from the North dutifully and then contributed towards the emergence of the next Nigeria president to succeed Buhari.”
Hon, Baba-Hassan stressed that Governor Lalong’s remarkable hardwork, perseverance and a visionary leadership with strong commitment to the progress, unity, peace and the well-being of the nation has made him an emancipator of minority tribes and their citizens.
Governor Lalong, he further added remains a reference point in Nigeria’s political history because of his selfless and humane contributions in given voice to voiceless people in society .
In Plateau state, the “Rescue Administration” off Governor Lalong has impacted positively on the lives of common men and women and we are proud of his commitment in finishing strong as he planning to hand over May 29th to the successor “.
It is these notes that I wish to conveyed my special birthday greetings to you Governor Lalong, your family, friends and associates on behalf of himself and members of my constituent in Jos North-North as you attain the age of 60, that is a milestone in your democratic journey whose democratic credentials are well written.”
He said Governor Lalong through his meaningful projects of legacy projects and initiatives executed many roads projects in Jos and other infrastructural development which includes, Dong Rafiki road network, Ali Kazaure Angwan Rogo Rimi road, British America inter-charge (fly over) as well as rehabilitation of roads within the city of Jos which he beautified with streets light across the nooks and crannies of the state.
Moreover, the governor completed all inherited projects abandon by the PDP government as well as introducing Peace Building Architecture programme irrespective of political party and political differences; they speak volumes about his commitment to development unity, progress and justice.
The former Deputy Speaker described “Governor Lalong as a father of the new Plateau of our dream, a father to all, regardless of our diverse social cultural status, a leader par excellence, and also, a bridge builder that ran an all inclusive government .
He pointed out that Lalong is a man of integrity and repute which required “our honoured members in the Plateau State House of Assembly to give him all the necessary support he needed to succeed as governor .
Even though the administration is about to wound up, Baba-Hassan said there was need to pay tributes to the quality of Lalong vast wealth of experience with which he governed the state in the last eight years.
“As you reeled toward another journey ,I wished you good fortune in the days ahead as our incoming President, Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu would find your meritorious service a testament to you inclination to serve and engage you for more bigger responsibilities,” he concluded.
