Senator Adebayo Oshinowo is dead. He died in the hospital where he had been reportedly undergoing treatment for coronavirus for the past ten days. A four-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, he succeeded Senator Gbenga Ashafa as Senator in the 2019 election to represent Lagos East Senatorial Constituency at the Senate.
He was very popularly nicknamed “Pepperito”, notably for his generosity towards many within and outside his constituency in the area of scholarship and for his openness and simplicity. He was 64 years old. He would be buried Monday according to muslim rites.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, have expressed their condolences to family members and party member in the state.
Buhari recounts that “Senator Osinowo as Chairman of Senate Committee on Industry and member of other committees, worked diligently to advance this administration’s objective of building a better and prosperous Nigeria.
“The President affirms that the Senator’s commitment to meet the needs of his community as a four-time member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, devotion to national development as well as insightful contributions at the floor of the Senate would be fondly remembered and missed.
The party in a statement said he was a loyal party who will be missed for his contribution to the growth and strength of the party.
