Lagos Records Upset As Obi Defeats Tinubu by Popular Votes

 
 
 
Despite predictions in his favour, the presidential candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lost the popular votes in his home state to the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
 
The former Lagos governor won 12 out of 20 local government areas while Obi won 8 but gathered a total popular vote of 582,454 to Tinubu’s 571, 575.
 
The other two front-runners in the election, namely Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Rabiu Kwawanso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP trailed Obi and Tinubu by a wide margin. Atiku got 75, 750 while Kwankwaso got 8, 870.
 
The 11 local government areas where Mr Tinubu triumphed are Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland,  Mushin
 
Mr Obi , on the other hand, won 10 Local governments areas including Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, and Somolu, Alimosho, Surulere, Ojo.
