The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.
Jimoh, who hails from Kwara State, was previously the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.
He has also served in various capacities within the Nigeria Police Force, including as Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner at the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner in charge of Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner for General Investigation.
Over the years, Jimoh has undergone extensive professional training both locally and internationally. He participated in the Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri and was part of the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
He also attended the Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training in the United States, the Social Construction and Management Reform program at the China Executive Leadership Academy in Pudong, and the Maritime Rescue and Salvage training at the China Maritime Academy in Ningbo.
His expertise was further honed through anti-hijacking techniques and tactics training at Yunnan Police College in Kunming, China, and an advanced program at the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
In recognition of his contributions to law enforcement and public relations, Jimoh was honored with the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
According to Ani, the new Lagos police boss appeared before the Police Service Commission for clearance on Monday.
The screening panel was chaired by DIG Hashimu Argungu and included Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje, a retired Supreme Court Justice representing the Judiciary, as well as DIG Taiwo Lakanu, the Commissioner representing the Police.
With his wealth of experience and international exposure, Jimoh is expected to bring enhanced policing strategies to the Lagos State Command.
